As a senior leader, I have overseen all facets of criminal justice operations, fostering the growth of programs and personnel across Nevada. I directly oversaw six supervisors who led highly effective teams in Las Vegas. My leadership approach focuses on guidance, mentorship, and coaching, providing specific feedback and support to encourage the professional development of team leaders.
I adeptly handle critical incidents needing immediate resolution and establish clear goals and benchmarks for success measurement. My strategic planning involves setting attainable objectives for each program, leading to sustained high-performance outcomes. Moreover, I have instituted annual leadership symposiums for all front-line managers, offering training that underscores the significance of ethics, compliance, and best practices.
In my capacity as a frontline leader, I translated strategy into actionable steps, providing direction and coaching. I connected the expectations of senior management with the comprehension of frontline staff through regular, targeted interactions with both tiers. I safeguarded the physical and emotional well-being of agents and staff in the violent crime division, especially following frequent life-threatening events. I promoted a learning culture by developing a training program that bolstered team capabilities via academic learning and practical application. Furthermore, I developed and implemented a succession plan to support the progression of prospective leaders.
As a Team Lead, I was deployed nationally to investigate significant events. I managed teams of supervisory personnel to ascertain the events' details, reasons, and potential subsequent actions. By actively listening to those affected and integrating team members' observations, I provided expert analytical solutions. I maintained accessibility and approachability during each incident. I adapted solutions to offer data-driven recommendations and ensured the physical and emotional well-being of both the responding team members and the personnel impacted by high-profile, substantial accidents, and mass casualty incidents.
In my role as an Agent Attorney, I offered guidance and advice on conventional investigative and operational procedures. I created national curricula and conducted extensive legal training covering topics such as legal ethics, search and seizure, interviewing and interrogation techniques, criminal procedure, and the use of reasonable force. Furthermore, I served on a national committee tasked with developing enterprise-wide investigative and operational standards.
As a Special Agent, I served as a criminal investigator and case manager. I initiated and conducted numerous federal investigations, gathered evidence, prepared charging documents, secured the appropriate legal processes, and achieved convictions for the crimes charged. I am also a certified coordinator for the National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime and a contact for the FBI's Critical Incident Response Group within the Violent Crime Apprehension Program.
I am interested in traditional Criminal Law concepts like Constitutional Law, Evidence, and Criminal Procedure; the significance of leadership in policing; the necessity for due diligence in policing procedures; the functions of police, prosecutors, and defenders within the criminal justice system; contemporary challenges in police practices; and the effects of criminal justice on the mental health of police officers, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and defendants.
